Born and raised in the wilds of western Michigan, I spent a few years in pursuit of a music degree before transferring to the School of Visual Arts to study illustration. At SVA, I worked as a student assistant in the Visual Arts Library and was encouraged by two wonderful librarians to consider library school (so really, they're to blame for all of this).

A year later, I headed off to grad school at the University of Michigan. I was lucky enough to participate in the fantastic University Library Associates program at Michigan, and worked as a librarian in the Art, Architecture and Engineering Library while attending classes. I also spent time in the library's Department of Preservation and Conservation as a lab assistant, and at the University's Museum of Art as a librarian and art handler.

I graduated from Michigan in April 2011, and am spending my summer finishing a number of special projects, working on a minicomic, and toiling away at the academic job search.
